Stability AI launches StableLM, an open-source suite of language models
The creators of Stable Diffusion, Stability AI, just released a suite of open-sourced large language models (LLMs) called StableLM. This comes just 5 days after the public release of their text-to-image generative AI model, SDXL.
StableLM is trained on a new experimental dataset built on The Pile, but three times larger with 1.5 trillion tokens of content. The richness of this dataset gives StableLM surprisingly high performance in conversational and coding tasks, despite its small size of 3 to 7 billion parameters (by comparison, GPT-3 has 175 billion parameters).
Some examples
Elon Musks’ TruthGPT and his fight with Microsoft
In a recent interview, Elon Musk announced his plan to create a maximum truth-seeking AI called 'TruthGPT,' an AI that aims to understand the nature of the universe. Watch the video clip here.
Earlier today, Elon Musk, just threatened to sue Microsoft by replying to this tweet, accusing Microsoft of illegally using Twitter's data to train its AI model. The threat follows reports of Microsoft dropping Twitter from its advertising platform.
Snapchat joins the AI race
Snap is releasing its “My AI” chatbot to all of Snapchat’s 750 million monthly users for free, a move that comes less than two months after the OpenAI-powered bot was first made available to the app’s more than 3 million paid subscribers.
While Microsoft and Google are racing to integrate generative AI into their search engines, Snap CEO Evan Spiegel sees the technology as “an awesome creative tool.”
